
Peter A. Gorski, M.D., M.P.A.
Dr. Gorski is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at Florida International University College of Medicine, Collaborating Professor of Public Health at the University of South Florida College of Public Health, Past President of the Society for Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) and the Florida Association for Infant Mental Health. Dr. Gorski serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and is the current Associate Editor of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Senior Bulletin. He served as the Chief Community Health, Child Development and Innovation Officer at the Children’s Trust of Miami-Dade County.
Originally trained in Pediatrics and Child Development at Harvard Medical School, Dr.Gorski’s career service includes posts as Director of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco, Division Head of DBP at the Evanston Hospital and Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, Director of DBP Research and Training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and Director of Professional Education at the Brazelton Institute of Boston Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Gorski’s professional service to the AAP included elected terms as Chairperson of the
National Committee on Early Childhood, Adoption and Dependent Care, the Executive Committee (EC) of the Council on Community Pediatrics, the EC of the AAP Council on School Health and the EC of the Section on Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics. He is currently Associate Editor of the AAP Senior Bulletin.
Gorski has authored over fifty peer-reviewed publications on infant and early childhood behavior and development, relationships and early brain development, social determinants of health and community health. The third edition of his collection of essays and poems, titled The Color of Meaning, was published in 2024 by Politics & Prose, Washington, DC. Gorski currently plays tuba in the North Miami Pops concert band and serves as band president.
