Announcing our 26/27 season
We're thrilled to be able to share news of our upcoming season!
Cristina Nosti and Mitchell Kaplan of Books & Books have once again curated an exciting season of international literary giants centered around the most anticipated books this year. I look forward to a season of discovery at Miami Literary Society beginning in October.
This year, we'll meet immensely talented international writers, some of whom many of us will discover for the first time. I expect their voices will challenge, move, and surprise us, and provide the kind of deep and rich discussion that we've experienced over the years at Miami Lit.
As we announced last spring, we will hold luncheons through June 2028 at Temple Israel, 137 NE 19th St, Miami. Parking is still free and onsite. We're grateful to Temple staff for securing this commitment for the next two seasons of Miami Lit.
Our 2026-7 Season:
2026 Pulitzer prize winner and Princeton professor Yiyun Li comes to Miami for the first time for an exclusive appearance at Miami Lit discussing her newest novel, Music of the Night.
Pulitzer prize-winning playwright and novelist Ayad Akhtar returns to Miami Lit with his new book The Radiance. You may recall how deeply engaging and insightful he is; we are looking forward to another lunch with him.
British-Turkish novelist and storyteller Elif Shafak is the recipient of the British Academy President’s Medal, the Halldór Laxness International Literary Prize for her contribution to “the renewal of the art of storytelling” and has been awarded Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. This will be Elif's first appearance in Miami.
February (Date TBD): Alice Winn, Worship
Irish and American novelist and screenwriter, born in France and educated in England, Alice Winn won the 2023 Waterstone's Debut Fiction Prize for her novel In Memoriam which was named a Best Book of the Year in the Washington Post and The New Yorker.
March (Date TBD): Joshua Cohen, Dead Herzls
Called “a major American writer” by The New York Times, and “an extraordinary prose stylist, surely one of the most prodigious at work in American fiction today” by the New Yorker, Cohen's last novel, The Netanyahus, won the 2021 National Jewish Book Award for Fiction and the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.
National bestselling author of The Orchard, Burn, The Last Ranger, The Guide, The River, Celine, The Painter, and The Dog Stars. The Painter was a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize and won the prestigious Reading the West Book Award.
Plus one or two more author luncheons to be announced.
